THINGS TO DO

As well as the three gorgeous local beaches here are some ideas for places to visit while staying.

Local information

Coastal walking

We bought the site because of it's proximity to the coastal footpath which runs all the way around Cornwall.  The beaches are spectacular and the cliff top walks (in our view) the most outstanding.  We are just off the South West Coast path,  and there are a huge number of local footpaths to explore.  We've created a video which shows the ones near us (it's in our gallery page and is the video at the top),  but you can go to the South West Coast path website here.

We offer reduced rates (£14 per night per tent) for small groups of backpackers with just a tent and rucksack (as part of the WayMaker scheme) and can always offer a pitch somewhere on the site (see our bookings page for more information).  Please telephone in advance late afternoon on the day of arrival.

Local Beaches

There are three beaches nearby :

Gorran Haven - is a small fishing harbour with a dog friendly beach, shop, fish & chips, and quay. From the campsite turn right, walk past the cottages on the left then turn left through the gate and carry on between the farmhouse and cottages. Follow the path and go through the pedestrian gate. Stay on this footpath down through the valley and at the bottom pass through the kissing gate. Stay on the path going down until you meet the road, turn right and it is now a short walk to the sandy beach and harbour. Approximate time 15-20 minutes. The beach is sheltered from the prevailing south west winds.

Hemmick Beach - is a sandy beach with rock pools. The beach is dog friendly. There are no facilities. Walk through the campsite past the fields until you reach the wooden gate on the road. Go straight ahead down the road until you reach the car park where you can pick up the path to the beach. Approximate time 15-20 minutes, well sign posted. Fantastic sunsets.

Vault Beach - is a long, secluded beach with sand and pebbles, rock pools, and often sightings of seals and dolphins. There are no facilities, but always lots of space. Walk through the campsite past the fields until you reach the wooden gate to the road. Turn left after the gate and follow the lane to a second gate. After a few hundred yards cut across the grass and pick up the costal path. This will take you down to the beach. Approximate time 30 minutes. There is a national trust car park if you prefer to drive.
